CSU Pueblo to Celebrate Opening of Technology, Education and Engineering Building with Ribbon-Cutting Ceremony
Release Date: March 02, 2026
PUEBLO, Colo. – Colorado State University Pueblo will mark the completion of the Technology, Education and Engineering Building with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at 1 p.m.
The ceremony will take place at the building entrance, located at 2200 Bonforte Boulevard on the CSU Pueblo campus. The event will run from 1 to 1:30 p.m. and will feature remarks from university leadership and special guests.
The new facility, known as the TEE Building, is home to the School of Education, the School of Engineering, and the Southern Colorado Institute for Transportation Technology. The building includes classrooms, student study spaces, and specialized areas designed to support each program.
The project was completed in two phases to minimize disruption to classes. Phase 2, which took approximately 442 days, created a new home for the School of Education, the School of Engineering, and the innovative SKITT Program. Phase 1 was funded through House Bill 21-205 with $17,122,654, while Phase 2 received $14,702,642 through House Bill 24-1430.
“This building represents our commitment to providing Southern Colorado with the quality education this region deserves,” said Dr. Gail Mackin, CSU Pueblo Interim President and Provost. “As the region's comprehensive university, we have a responsibility to prepare the educators who will teach in our schools and the engineers who will build our infrastructure. This facility gives our students access to the spaces and resources that will shape their thinking and capabilities. Generations of students will walk through these doors, discover their potential, and return that investment to their communities. That's what makes this moment so significant.”
CSU Pueblo serves as southern Colorado's regional comprehensive university, providing accessible, quality education to approximately 4,000 students across a diverse geographic area.
For the School of Education, the Curriculum Resource Center on the second floor serves as a comprehensive hub for the program. The center features an extensive collection of books, manipulatives, technology, and instructional resources to prepare pre-service and in-service educators.
Engineering students benefit from purpose-built spaces that support hands-on learning. The building includes a dedicated hydrology lab and teaching space, a flexible open area for instruction and construction projects, and an asphalt lab that advances the work of the Southern Colorado Institute for Transportation Technology. These facilities provide students with the practical experience that defines quality engineering education.
The project was completed through the collaborative efforts of Canter, Wember, Nunn Construction, and HCM Architects, with leadership from Brian Caruso, Adam Kuhn, and Brent Lorenz. Original mural artwork was contributed by local artist, Shannon Powers.
Following the formal ribbon cutting, the site will remain open for tours, allowing attendees to explore the new facility. A reception will be held, and media will have the opportunity to ask questions and gather additional information about the building and its programs.
