Bio

Dr. Kenshara Cravens-Knoxson is a social work educator, practitioner, researcher, and community leader whose work focuses on behavioral health, medical social work, social-emotional learning, trauma-informed practice, and social work education. She earned her Ph.D. in Social Work from Walden University, where her dissertation examined hospital social workers’ experiences and perceptions regarding discharge planning and hospital readmissions. She serves as Clinical Reimbursement Director for NASW Texas and Founder and CEO of Craving for a Change Foundation.

Research Interests

Behavioral health; medical social work; hospital discharge planning and readmissions; social-emotional learning; trauma-informed practice; racial trauma; substance use treatment and recovery; health equity and access to care; youth development; social work education and field instruction.
