Preparing for the Business Management BSBA

Business Management students begin with a broad foundation in business. All undergraduate business majors in Accounting, Business Management, and Economics complete the Hasan School of Business Core.

The Business Core provides common business knowledge and skills while helping students connect concepts across accounting, economics, finance, management, marketing, and other business disciplines before progressing into advanced major coursework.

The Business Core

The shared Business Core prepares students for upper-division coursework and provides the broader business knowledge needed for effective management and leadership.

Build Business Knowledge Develop foundational knowledge across the major functional areas of business before advancing into specialized study.
Integrate Business Disciplines Understand how management, accounting, economics, finance, marketing, operations, and other business functions connect.
Prepare for Leadership Build the intellectual and professional foundation needed for responsible leadership in business and society.

Academic Requirements

Business Management students should understand these Hasan School of Business progression requirements.

1 General Education GPA An overall GPA of 2.000 is required in General Education Skills Component courses.
2 Prerequisite Courses The Hasan School of Business prerequisite course requirement is a D so a student may progress to the next course.
3 Business Core & Major Courses Business majors must earn a C or better in Business Core courses and in 300/400-level major courses to fulfill degree requirements.
4 Upper-Division Progression Students must complete the 100/200-level Business Core before enrolling in 300/400-level business courses.

Business Core and major courses may have additional prerequisites. Students should review current course descriptions and work with Hasan School of Business advising to make sure courses are completed in the correct sequence.

Important Course Substitution Information

Independent Studies, Directed Studies, Internships, and Special Projects may count as electives, but they may not be substituted for Business Core or required major courses.
